Monte and Neil Shelton have an incredible racing heritage that began in late 1950’s. Monte has raced and beaten some of the most famous names in racing including Dan Gurney, Mario Andretti, Parnelli Jones, Skip Barber, Don Jensen, A.J. Foyt, Bruce McLaren, Paul Newman, Willy T. Ribbs, Steve Saleen, Wally Dallenbach, Scott Pruett, Tommy Kendall, Hershel McGriff, Geoff Brabham, Bobby Rahal and Paul Gentilozzi. He’s raced in cities from Riverside to Sonoma, British Columbia to Atlanta, and all points in between. He’s driven a McLaren, a Cobra, a Porsche, an Austin and, of course, a Jaguar.

The number of wins Monte has and races Monte has been in are too numerous to list.  Perhaps Monte’s favorite accomplishment is winning the Portland Rose Cup seven different times…a feat unmatched to this day. Suffice to say that Monte is a legend from his days competing in the old CanAm series, the TransAm series and the SCCA.

Monte’s spectacular career was officially recognized with his induction into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 2004…one of Monte’s greatest honors.

Neil’s racing career is just as storied. It began 19 years ago, when he first took the wheel of a Titan Mark 6 Formula Ford at Portland International Raceway. He’s raced against the best including Peter Greg and Scott Pruett…and beat former Champ Car World Series champion, Jimmy Vasser. He even sold Scott a Jaguar a few years back.

Over the years, Neil has driven Porsche’s and Formula Fords in the TransAm, IMSA and SCCA series. In 1979, Neil won the G.I. Joe’s Grand Prix…he’s been the SCCA Northern Division Champion 3 different times…a five-time winner of the Portland Enduro…and has been the Formula Ford Competitive Division Champion 4 of the last 6 years. 

And, like his father before him, Neil won the 2008 Rose Cup…his very first.
